Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller
Aries Horoscope for January 2009
By Susan Miller
Think of January as a wonderful turning point. The start of January could bring you astounding career news, some of the best you've had in years. The second half of January will usher in a completely new second trend, one that will be highly social and quite exciting for you. Those two trends that I am seeing are huge ones, so you should notice them and benefit from both of them.
This month you also have a chance to see a big development with regard to a home or property situation, and it's also one you will like! There's lots going on, so let's get started!
First, thanks to an important new moon that occurred last month on December 27 (and that will still be very strong in January's first week), you will have an extraordinary ability to advance your career now. Jupiter, which is the kind planet of good fortune and happiness, will be in his final days of Capricorn, still lighting your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame.
Jupiter has been in this part of your chart all year and will leave this area in a matter of days (something we will talk about in a moment). For you to feel Jupiter's help, however, you needed other planets to push his energy toward you, and you will have precisely that in early January.
The other little planets in our solar system are gathering together to give Jupiter a happy farewell party. When you get a crowd of planets in one house of the chart, as you will have now, we have a "stellium" or crown of stars, all orbiting close to one another.
When those planets make a brilliant display of planetary affection for Jupiter, you will finally be able to find the job you want, if you have been looking (or would like to start looking now). Mars, the planet of energy and action, will be in attendance at this cosmic party and is set to stay in the career status area of your chart until February 4. Mars is a HUGE help, for Mars only makes it to this part of your chart once every two years - and when he does come, he brings an opportunity to start a new cycle.
The Sun, the governing star of our solar system, will be there, adding warmth and authority by shining his powerful light on your achievements. The new moon was at the Sun's side recently, and her presence with the Sun is CRITICAL in getting ahead.
Pluto, planet of transformations, will be at this party too, and from Pluto you can expect to get help from influential people and even from global companies and governments. Pluto is new to this house, and will stay FIFTEEN years! (To say you are about to become a force to be reckoned with is an understatement.)
Mercury is there as well, and Mercury brings news and phone calls. Mercury is the little talker planet, and that's what you want - lots of talks generated about YOU!
You may have received a phone call about a job offer at the end of December, and if so, you must follow up on that offer quickly. In astrology, it matters when you make your first initiation, so you need not actually get the job this month. What's important is that you generate that first phone call, email, letter, or meeting. If you haven't yet had a conversation about your job prospects, it looks like you will soon! Help things along by generating options for yourself.
One day that you might want to keep your antenna up for sensational career news will be on January 9, when someone influential behind the scenes may speak up for you in a big way. You'll know your career is on fire then, for sure. In addition to Friday, January 9, also mark down the day prior, Thursday, January 8, as a day you may hear news.
Keep in mind that Mars, your ruling planet (and therefore an indication of which direction you should focus your best energies), will remain in your professional sector all month. You have no idea what a wonderful help Mars will be to you as you go through the whole month of January! If ever there were a time to put all your energies forth to find a new position, it is in early January. Mars is currently helping you start a whole new two-year cycle, so it will be easier for you to get the attention of influential people at the top.
Keep in mind that having benefic Jupiter's assistance in this house is rare. You will not have this level of planetary artillery again until 2019! Be sure to look both outside and inside your company, including other firms your company may own. You might be able to switch over to one of them.
This energy is considered reward for work well done in the past, so it's not quite as appropriate for making a complete career switch to something new. OK, but now having said that, I will admit that you have simply extraordinary aspects this month, so you might be able to make things happen if you are passionate enough about making a change to a new career. Your cosmic support is awesome!
If you are self-employed, see if you can get publicity for the good work you've been doing in your business lately, or think about launching an ad campaign to spotlight goods or services. Do so early in the month - don't delay. You might put the pieces in place for the launch of a new business too, as you are currently thinking big and conditions support you. Because this trend is one that will bring all past achievements to a reward point, try to draw on the experience you have already gained for your new venture.
We need to look back at the aspects that occurred at the new moon on December 27 to see how you will be affected in the first half of January. (All new moons exert a powerful undertow of two weeks that will color the new moon period so strongly that in many cases that new moon will override some of the smaller aspects of the coming two weeks.)
With so many planets shining at the top of your chart, it's clear that your next position would be a step up, not a lateral move.
Jupiter was almost precisely conjunct Mercury at the December 27 new moon, so you'll likely have excellent working conditions, new and better computer equipment, and possibly an ability to hire extra staff to help you. You may enjoy these improved conditions immediately, but almost certainly will later in the year. Act quickly. Remember, you will have Jupiter at your side until January 5 and Mars all month, until February 4.
Mercury will go retrograde from January 11 until February 1, another reason to put the pedal to the metal with any goals you have. You will feel a slowdown occur very soon. Mercury will start its retrograde in Aquarius, so older computers and electronic equipment will start to show wear and tear. Back up your data. If any machine part is starting to wear out, you will know it and need to go to the repair shop with your appliance or electronic.
You might be wondering how Mercury retrograde will impede your progress as you move toward your new job. Admittedly, it is not a good time to accept a new job or sign contracts when Mercury is retrograde. Go slowly and ask a lot of questions. You can still proceed, but do so with caution if talks continue into the middle to end of January. Clearly, conditions will be in flux and you won't have all the available information you need to make a decision, even though you may be lulled into thinking you do. Information that you will be depending on will not be completely reliable.
There is one way you can get around the problem of having Mercury retrograde this month, and it is this: if you are talking with someone you already know from your past job or if you had been interviewing for a new job for several weeks or months prior to January.
So with Mercury retrograde, be patient, and don't try to speed the process once you've initiated things in early January. The people you are interviewing with probably don't know exactly what type of person they need. In fact, they appear to still be talking among themselves about the position. No reason to be concerned - let them sort that out. Your job is to be their number one pick - with your aspects it should be a piece of cake.
The job may take until mid-year to be awarded. If so, you will have help then too, for you will have a full moon ECLIPSE (worth three full moons) on July 7. The eclipse should be helpful in getting you into a brand new situation - and Mercury won't be retrograde then either!
There is some indication that you may have to relocate to take your new job, as there'll be another eclipse July 21 in your house of home. Your move may be across town, or across the country - or the world. It could be anywhere you want it to be! Eclipses bring massive changes, so keep your eye on the days near that date, and one month to the day later.
Speaking of eclipses, there'll be a solar eclipse later this month! We will get to that, so stay with me. (All information in good time. Be patient….)
So finishing up my discussion about your career, keep in mind you MAY settle things this month, but if not, stay optimistic because you have other aspects coming that will help you, too. There are lots of important planetary aspects that will be happening this year to help you into your new high-level job. I always feel that the life I am living now is completely contingent on seeds I planted in the past, whether that was ten years ago or a year ago. 2009 appears to be a year of exciting professional progress for you. If you are not happy, you must go out and see what's there for you!
The full moon on January 10, plus or minus four days, will bring you a surprise opportunity to settle a home, property, or family matter that has been pending. This will be a gorgeous full moon, as Uranus will send a beautiful beam to the Sun and moon. You won't see this news coming until it is almost literally upon you - this full moon brims with surprises. You may get a chance to move or to fix up your space in just the way you had hoped.
With Mercury retrograde this month, your home-related situation that comes up at the full moon, January 10, could be one that offers you a second chance with an opportunity that previously flew out of your hands. For example, if you were trying to sell your house and had a buyer, but that buyer backed out at the last minute, or YOU were the buyer and your bid was not accepted, that situation may come up again and you may be offered a second chance at fulfilling that deal. If you find you do go back to an earlier situation, things should work out very well. Mercury always will urge you to go back to the past to find ways to rework, revisit, or rethink things.
Now let's turn to the social part of the month, which will herald a fresh new influence - one you will certainly love!
All this will begin when Jupiter, planet of abundance, will move into Aquarius for the first time since 1997. This will happen on January 5, 2009, and begin to fill your eleventh house of hopes and wishes / friendships / events and people for a full year. This will be the new area of your chart to show gain, something you'll start to see become a hub of activity very soon. By time you leave 2009, you will have many more new friends, and you'll find them to be very jovial, successful types that will have a very positive effect on your life in various ways in coming months.
For an indication of just how fortunate one or more friends will be for you, look first at what I call "the luckiest day of the year," which will arrive on January 24.
On the East Coast of the United States, Jupiter will meet the Sun very early in the day at 12:24 AM EST. In this case, you will want to mark down January 23 as your bigger, more fortunate day.
A planet is always at its most powerful while it is still moving toward its peak. These two are meeting into a very people-populated house, so it appears that a friend or acquaintance will touch you by being very good to you in some way. This person may make an introduction, give you a gift, or go out of his or her way for something that's important to you. Circle Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24, to see what happens!
Also, you may see the fulfillment of a grand wish on this same day, as the eleventh house rules more than people you know - such as new contacts, acquaintances, and friends - but also your deepest desires. In that respect, this day may crystallize a material or spiritual wish - something you've long wanted and have had to be patient about getting!
If your birthday falls on March 24 or within five days of that date, this luckiest day of the year should be even better for you!
On top of this, a very beneficial eclipse will arrive on January 26. Can you believe that with all we have going on in January, we have a solar eclipse, too? Yes, we do! Sometimes eclipses are troublesome, but this one will be supremely fortunate for you and will open a whole new world. Many new faces are set to enter your life, and you will feel changed by the people you meet.
This solar eclipse will fall in Aquarius, the sign of groups of all kinds, so you may decide to join a club or take a leadership post in a club that you already belong to. The club you join may be profession or social. Or, at this time, you may attend a trade show that nets you many new contacts and opportunities. Whenever people gather together for a common purpose, it is considered a group, and this is the area that will glow so brilliantly for you this month AND all year, dear Aries. The result of this eclipse could be as simple as one good friend helping you get ahead or solve a problem, or as massive as your being elected to president in a community or charity post.
Aquarius, the sign where the eclipse will fall, also rules community, charitable, and humanitarian efforts. You may work in a not-for-profit field, and if so, you'll be beautifully positioned to create results you will be proud to tell others about later. Alternatively you may decide to volunteer to help a group, community, or political cause that has been neglected by society. You'd have ideal conditions to leave your mark on that endeavor, too. You would also get to display, and experiment with, various managerial styles and methods and to develop your skills, some that you'll be able to transfer to your real job.
If you were born on March 25, you are most likely to feel the positive effects of this eclipse, but even if you are not an "early born" Aries with a March birth, you should see this lovely set of aspects help you.
If you are self-employed, the eleventh house, so lit up, also rules profit from work done in 2008 for your business. In your case, money should flow in, and it will be directly related to what you did earlier.
Are you not self-employed? You won't miss out - keep your eye on February 17, a date we will talk about next month.
Remember, the place in the chart that will bring the solar eclipse on January 26, and earlier, where Jupiter and the Sun will meet on January 24, is an area that will be lit up all year for you: the area of friendship and groups! Not only will good-fortune Jupiter remain there throughout 2009, but more friendly eclipses will emphasize this area, too.
Romantically, something amazing may happen next month on February 9 at the full moon lunar eclipse. Stay tuned!
Summary
You begin the year with bright, exciting news about your career. With a plethora of planets in Capricorn, setting ablaze your tenth house of honors and awards, the offer that is generated now will be one for the record books. You may be promoted within your present company, or switched to a different division of your present firm. Or, you may hear from a competitive firm. No matter - your new position should please you more than words can describe.
Your new job will bring you up a whole new level and allow you to exercise all your leadership skills. You will be in charge of major budgets too, and you can do that - no problem! It appears the offer could come from a large, international, global conglomerate firm. January 8 or 9 could bring a surprise phone call.
Mercury will retrograde from January 11 to February 1. Be sure to proceed carefully on any new offers sent, though you will be thrilled. It is not a wise time to sign contracts or to actually agree to a new position. You can interview, but take your time.
The exception to this rule would be if your offer emanates from a former employer - you can act on that offer now because going back to someone from the past is precisely what Mercury will urge you to do in January. Even if you don't get a new job offer from your old pal or associate, you may get a tip that leads you in the right direction.
You may have already received your first career offer in the last days of December, or you may hear something this week. Keep in mind that you don't have to actually be awarded the job during January - but you do have to initiate talks in early January.
You might get something now, but because superb positions often take time to win, it may take six months or more from now to actually capture your new title. You have an important, friendly full moon eclipse coming in six months, on July 7, so that may be the time the pieces of your plan will come together.
Another big trend is blowing through your window, having to do with fun and friendship. After Jupiter enters Aquarius on January 5, you'll be mixing and mingling with many more people in the year ahead. Jupiter will be set to stay in this part of your chart until January 17, 2010 - oh, happy day!
Friends will have a beneficial effect on all parts of your life, from enlarging your interests, increasing your insights, and widening your perspective. If single, meeting more people will help you come in contact with someone intriguing, very likely through a friend's introduction.
Note the luckiest days of the year: January 23-24, when good fortune Jupiter will conjoin the Sun. That's a rare annual event, and these two magnificent bodies will meet in your friends and groups sector.
You will benefit enormously from a friend's kindness - watch and see! The lovely influences you feel on this day will also act as a preview to the year to come. New friends who care about you are on the way. The new faces that will enter your life will be happy, cheerful types you'll want to cultivate because they will be stimulating and so very affirming of you!
